16 March to 6 July 2010 - Public Speaking Course - A 10 week public speaking course designed to help conquer nerves and achieve goals by speaking confidently. The cost is free for the first 2 lessons and then participants are asked to join Forum Communicators for $45, and then it's $4 per meeting. The course notes are provided each lesson for free. The course will be held at Logan Uniting Church, Yurana meeting room, 129 Dennis Rd, Springwood on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday night each month. 1 April 2010 - Change Your Smoke Alarm Battery Day - Under Australian law, all owners of homes and units are required to install at least one 9V battery-operated smoke alarm designed to last a year or longer. This national awareness day aims to highlight the importance of general fire safety and the role smoke alarms play in house fires.
27 March to 18 April 2010 - Toyland Express - Events and activities that explore the role of trains in childhood. General museum entry is $18.50 for adults, $10 for children aged 3 to 16, and free for children under 3. The Workshops Rail Museum, North St, North Ipswich.
2 April (Friday) 2010 - Good Friday - Public Holiday. (See AU school and public holiday dates.)
2 April (Friday) 2010 - Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race - Hosted by Queensland Cruising Yacht Club on Good Friday every year.
2 April (Friday) 2010 - Redcliffe Festival of Sails - Watch the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race at the Festival of Sails. Art and craft stalls, sand sculpture and workshops, an Easter egg hunt and parachuting Easter bunny, rides and live music. 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on Suttons Beach, Marine Pde, Redcliffe.
2 & 3 April 2010 - Easter Orchid Show - Hosted by the Bribie Island Orchid Society. An opportunity for collectors and gardeners to see and purchase varieties of plants including the release of the special Dtps Bribie Q150 orchid. Orchid sales, fertilisers, clivias, bromeliads, carnivorous plants, floral art, light refreshments and more. Entry is $4, which includes morning or afternoon tea. Entry is $3.50 for groups of 10 or more. Open Friday 2 April from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm and Saturday 3 April from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm with presentation of awards at 2.30 pm on Saturday. The show will be held in the Student Centre, Bribie Island State High School, First Ave, Bribie Island.
2 to 4 April 2010 - Easterfest - Christian music and family festival. Held annually in Toowoomba.
2 to 4 April 2010 - Great Noosa Camp Out - Noosa Hinterland (see Noosa).
3 April (Saturday) 2010 - Easter Saturday - Public Holiday.
4 April (Sunday) 2010 - Easter Sunday
4 April (Sunday) 2010 - Rathdowney Heritage Festival - In 2010 the festival will also celebrate the Centenary of Rathdowney Town. The festival includes a parade, displays, wood chopping, working sheep dogs, demonstrations of whip cracking, leather work, shelling and cracking corn, and more.
5 April (Monday) 2010 - Easter Monday - Public Holiday.
8 April (Thursday) 2010 - Teddy Bears' Picnic - Part of Toyland Express. Bring your favourite teddy bear and take part in the picnic on the lawn. Activities include storytelling, a teddy bear hunt, and more. General museum entry is $18.50 for adults, $10 for children aged 3 to 16, and free for children under 3. 9 to 11 April 2010 - Supanova Pop Culture Expo Brisbane - Featuring sci-fi and fantasy guest authors and a writing masterclass. RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane (for more writing festivals see BCL Books).

10 to 18 April 2010 - National Youth Week
11 April (Sunday) 2010 - The Curly Coats Cat Club of Qld Inc Annual Cat Show - Visitors welcome. The show will be held in the Everton Park State High School Hall. See the Council of Federated Cat Clubs of Queensland Inc.
13 April (Tuesday) 2010 - School Term 2 begins in Queensland State Schools - (Monday is a student free day. See AU school holiday date.)
15 to 17 April - Heritage Toowoomba Royal Show - 9.00 am to 9.00 pm daily at the Royal Toowoomba Showgrounds.

19 April (Monday) 2010 - Bach and Beyond - Presented by the Australian Chamber Orchestra. The program includes one mass, one motet and one cantata from Bach, as well as works from composers that have been influenced by Bach such as Schoenberg and Pärt. 8.00pm at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane.
