Brisbane Suburbs - St Lucia St Lucia, BrisbaneSt Lucia is roughly 4km from Brisbane’s CBD, accessed from the city by river on the CityCat, or road, bicycle or foot along Coronation Drive. The closest railway station is Toowong although buses also run to Indooroopilly station. Housing in the area includes gracious colonials, modern unit blocks and brick homes, many on steep hillsides.
The suburb is dominated by the University of Queensland with much of its infrastructure providing excellent sporting facilities, restaurants, an Olympic-size swimming pool, libraries and bookshops.
St Lucia also has supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. St Lucia has an historic, quiet, green and leafy feel to it although traffic to the University, especially along Sir Fred Schonell Drive, can be extremely heavy.
