Shorncliffe is a bayside suburb, approximately 16km from the CBD. It juts out into Moreton Bay with Sandgate to one side and Cabbage Tree Creek behind it.
The Shorncliffe Pier is popular with locals and visitors. From the pier, you can see across to Redcliffe and Moreton Bay Islands, or look back inland at the cliffs. Walkers and cyclists can follow footpaths from the pier along to Sandgate and Brighton, or enjoy picnic and barbeque spots at Moora Park and explore the cliffs and rocks at Cabbage Tree Head.
The Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race, held at Easter each year, begins at Shorncliffe Pier. There is some bed and breakfast accommodation in elegant old Queenslanders.
Shorncliffe Railway Station is the end of the rail-line that meets other suburban rail lines at Northgate. See the Google Map of Shorncliffe.
