Sandgate, Brisbane
Sandgate is a bayside suburb, 16 km north of Brisbane's CBD between
Brighton and
Shorncliffe on the waterfront, and bordering
Deagon inland towards Brisbane City. It is an
older residential suburb with many old homes being renovated or replaced
with newer more upmarket houses. The family-friendly area features many
schools, kindergartens and parks as well as community swimming pools,
and a the Sandgate Bowls Club.
Sandgate is also home to a shopping
centre and a range of smaller boutique shops and coffee shops. The main roads in the suburb for
shopping, dining and leisure are Brighton Terrace, Rainbow Street, and
Flinders Parade.
Sandgate Community Theatre Group
runs the
Music By The Sea
Festival is based at the old Sandgate Town Hall on the central
roundabout. Sandgate Railway Station is nearby.
Sandgate gives its name to
Sandgate Road
