About 3km north-west of the Brisbane CBD, Red Hill's most recognisable landmark is St Brigid's, the large, red-brick church. It is one of the oldest of Brisbane's suburbs and has a mix of renovated worker's cottages, Queenslander-style homes and colonial-style homes.
Red Hill has many steep streets including Cochrane Street and Zig Zag Street (featured in the Nick Earls novel of the same name). There are small shops along Waterworks and Windsor Roads, with a supermarket and more shops in neighbouring Kelvin Grove and Paddington. Red Hill is also home to Gilbert Park, training ground for the Brisbane Broncos Rugby League team.
High-frequency bus services run down Waterworks Road into the city. See more on getting around.
