Eight Miles Plains is a newer suburb built
on what was once an agricultural reserve, 13km south of the Brisbane CBD. Local landmark
Hughesville is a rare, heritage-listed, single-story, timber and tin
house in a suburb that is predominantly modern, large brick detached
housing and townhouses.
Brisbane Technology Park (BTP) is part of Eight Mile Plain's commercial
district. Local shops, cafes and supermarket can be found at
the corner of Padstow and Warrigal Roads. Logan Road and Padstow Road
are the main thoroughfares and the Pacific Motorway runs north to the
city centre and south to the Gold Coast. The Gateway Motorway is
also a short distance away and links Eight Mile Plains with Brisbane
Airport and the north.
Eight Mile plains is serviced by frequent bus services that run down
Padstow Road and from the Eight Mile Plains stop of the South-East Busway.
