The cultural, administrative and commercial centre of Brisbane is a cosmopolitan mix of retail shopping, apartments, hotels and government buildings. Brisbane's CBD is bounded on three sides by the river and on one by the Roma Street Parklands. The main financial district is towards Eagle Street, most government buildings are on George Street and courts are towards the Police Headquarters and Transit Centre at Roma Street. Pedestrian malls at Queen Street Mall and Brisbane Square have retail stores and street performers. Queensland University of Technology and the Botanical gardens to the east are linked across the river to Southbank Parklands.
Most of the public transport is runs directly into the city and there is a free loop bus that runs around the city centre. See more on getting around.
