23 km north of the Brisbane CBD, Brighton is a suburb on the shores of
Bramble Bay, between Sandgate and Redcliffe. Brighton's hub runs
along its waterfront esplanade on Flinders Parade and has parks,
paths, restaurants, cafes and swimming pool facilities. The
Brighton Hotel is a landmark in this suburb of wide streets and
renovated timber homes. There are also local wetland reserves that
provide a sanctuary for native flora and fauna. The seaside location
and the many amenities mean Brighton has attracted both retirees (two
large retirement facilities are here) and young families. The
Gateway Motorway is nearby, providing access to the city and the Airport
to the south and the Sunshine Coast to the North. Redcliffe is just
north over the water, via the Houghton Highway bridge. |
