5km south of the Brisbane CBD, Annerley sits on a ridge that gives it city views and cool breezes.  It has mix of dwelling types including post-war cottages and Queenslanders as well as 1970s blocks of flats and modern units.  Annerley Junction, where Annerley Road and Ipswich Road meet, has been a shopping hub for decades and currently has a small supermarket, independent butcher, newsagent, plus a few small retailers.  There are cafes and restaurants scattered along Ipswich Road.  Annerley is serviced by frequent bus services that run down Ipswich Road, feeding into the South-East and Eastern Busways.  There is also a train station in nearby Fairfield.
