7km from the Brisbane CBD, Alderley is one of Brisbane's older suburbs. Alderley's high proportion of Queenslander-style homes has attracted restorers and renovators and new townhouse or unit developments. The Alderley Arms Hotel is the local watering hole, while Alderley Plaza has a supermarket and post office. Grinstead Park down by Kedron Brook is a family favourite. Nearby facilities are the cinemas at Stafford and Brookside Shopping Centre at Mitchelton.
Major roads, Samford Road and South Pine Road, meet at Alderley, funneling commuters and city-bound traffic into Kelvin Grove Road to Brisbane city. The 5-way roundabout at Pickering Street (we voted it the worst roundabout in Brisbane!) was redeveloped in 2008 and is now 4 way with traffic bound for South Pine Road being sent on to Sicklefield Street. A vast improvement.
Pickering Street is a light industrial area with the Alderley Police
Complex at one end. The Ferny Grove railway line runs through Alderley
with a level crossing on South Pine Road.
A high frequency bus route runs on Samford Road and
Alderley Railway Station is only 12 minutes away from Central. See

getting around. See the Google-map of
Alderley.
