Volunteer Groups in Brisbane

Volunteers are always needed and it is a quick way to make friends and learn new skills.  See also community groups.

• Amnesty International Brisbane City Group
• The Bridge - University of Queensland volunteer organisation. The group aims to link students with the community.
• Brisbane State Emergency Services (SES)
• Careflight Rescue QLD - An emergency air medical rescue service provided 24/7, at no cost to patients. Careflight requires volunteers for general office administration, assistance with events, donation tin placement and collection in local shops and businesses, and charity BBQs.
• Gap Creek Trails Alliance - Meet on the second Saturday of each month to maintain sustainable trails particularly on the mountain bike trails in Mt Coot-tha Forest.
• Get Involved - A Queensland government website with information about volunteering and getting involved in government. The site also has information on the Queensland Young Volunteer Awards.
• Guide Dogs Queensland - Needs volunteers for special events, fundraising, administration, general boarding and more.
• Help Enterprises - A community-based, non-profit organisation established in 1968 by Rotary to assist in the support of people with disabilities. The group operate from five sites in the greater Brisbane area and employ a fully integrated workforce of nearly 200 disabled and able-bodied people in a variety of industries.
• Meals On Wheels
• Mount Olivet Community Services - Health & Aged Care. Looking for volunteers to read and write letters for patients, as escorts, in administration and more.
• Nepal Australia Friendship Association - (NAFA) is a Brisbane based non-political, non profit organisation dedicated to assisting the poor and needy of Nepal. The group aim to assist communities and individuals with projects that improve the quality of life and provide hope for the future.
• Queensland Meals on Wheels Services Association Inc - A community service organised to help the frail aged, younger disabled and their carers to live in the community where they are happiest - in their own homes. 
• Radio 4EB - Ethnic Broadcasting.
• Sail Training Association of Queensland - Own and operate the South Passage - which gives young people aged between age 14 to 17 the experience of a traditional sailing ship. 
• Salvation Army Calamvale
• Technical Aid to the Disabled, Qld Inc. - (TADQ) TADQ volunteers make aids that are not commercially available, or are too expensive for individuals, by volunteers. TADQ work with individuals, Special Schools or any genuine person in need of a gadget or an aid for their lifestyle.

• Volunteer Refugee Tutoring & Community Support Program (VoRTCS) - A non-profit, volunteer-run organisation sponsored by the St Vincent de Paul Society. VoRTCS is based in South Brisbane and operates over a large area of South East Queensland including Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast. VoRTCS aims to assist and empower refugee families in Australia.
• Wesley Mission Brisbane - An outreach of the Albert Street Uniting Church, is one of Brisbane's longest-established welfare ministries. It provides care and comfort and support to thousands of men, women and children through a network of Aged Care facilities and community services throughout the greater Brisbane region. • Amnesty International
• Asylum Seekers Resource Centre - Aims to provide aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. The centre is seeking volunteers for a minimum 12 month commitment.
• Australian Conservation Foundation - See their Volunteer opportunities.
• Australian Emergency Management Volunteer Program Forum - Provides training, legal protection, funding and recognition for Australian emergency volunteers.
• Australian League of Immigration Volunteers (ALIV) - Aims to improve the lives of children and families with Bridging Visas living in Community Detention, as well as adults and children living inside Immigration Detention Centres. ALIV is seeking volunteers to actively work with children and families as well as in recruitment, administration, fundraising, volunteer management and programming.
• Australian Tibet Council - A non-profit organisation that works to promote the human rights and democratic freedoms of the Tibetan people. Visit the website to nationally or internationally volunteer.
• Australian Volunteers International - Volunteering placements in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.
• Australian Volunteer Search - Volunteering opportunities by state and territory.
• Conservation Volunteers - Volunteer for conservation projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
• Dharmik Australia - Charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged children in Nepal by supporting children's homes and other local projects. 
• Fight Cancer Foundation - The marketing and fundraising arm of the Bone Marrow Donor Institute. The Foundation requires volunteers who can participate in various fundraising events.

• Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICV) - ICV is a not for profit organisation that need volunteers to held provide Indigenous Australians with new skills.
• interPART - Brings together a range of people with extensive experience in working with communities, governments and international agencies in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Australia. Friends of interPART is a volunteer managed, incorporated humanitarian/fundraising body.
• The Light of Lanka Foundation - Was established in January 2005 as a result of mother of three, Needra Doyles inspiring trip to Sri Lanka just three days after the tsunami to work as a volunteer. After sharing her experiences via emails to friends at home, a group were motivated to form a committee to assist some of the hundreds of orphaned children.
• Meals On Wheels
• Men's Link - A non-profit organisation which aims to promote the value, well-being and social participation of young men by providing appropriate and professional services with outreach activities. They require mentors for group activities and one-to-one mentoring.
• Ovarian Cancer Program - Requires volunteers for fundraising.
• Oxfam Australia - Volunteer in Oxfam offices or become a remote volunteer.
• Radio Lollipop - An international organisation founded over 25 years ago to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment for children and young people, primarily in hospitals. The service to children and young people is provided entirely by volunteers who have been especially selected and trained to make a child's stay in hospital more fun and less frightening.

• Romero Centre - A place of support for former detainees and Temporary Protection Visa holders. Some examples of volunteer roles include casework support, accommodation support, project work, newsletter production, childminding, administration, and tutoring.

• Save the Children - Aims to fight for children's rights and make lasting improvements to children's lives.

• Together For Humanity - Conducts programmes in schools which challenge misconceptions and encourage children to focus on common values.
