- Connecting to the internetRates and services for internet access varies. We suggest you compare prices and services offered before choosing an ISP. Ask other businesses in your area about their experiences. The cheapest is not necessarily the best, but nor is the dearest.
Try to work out what you want, how often you are likely to be connected and when you would most use it. Although all providers listed are local numbers, some may be a community call (i.e. timed local call) from your location. Broadband services can save the cost of having an extra telephone line. Broadband internet - cable or ADSL - can make running your business much easier - once you have it, you'll wonder how you managed without it. However, many areas, including some major south-east Queensland industrial estates, do not have access to broadband. You need to double-check this if you are planning to move your business and consider broadband essential - it can be a mistake to assume that being within the required distance from the exchange means that ADSL will be available.
Remember: Internet access does not need to be related to your email or web hosting service. Using your own domain name means that you can change ISP without changing your email or web site address.
Casual Internet access is available at the Queensland State Library and Brisbane City Council libraries as well as in several internet cafes in Brisbane CBD.
